Nordic bean to bar chocolate made in Sweden

In the summer of 2013, Ulrika and Fredrik Bergenkrans were on holiday in Österlen. While taking a coffee break, they stumbled upon the old village school of Skåne-Tranås from 1893 and decided to purchase it. Just three months later, they founded Svenska Kakao, a chocolate company that became a pioneer in crafting bean-to-bar chocolate in Sweden. Today, only a handful of manufacturers in the Nordics produce chocolate from cocoa beans.

Svenska Kakao's chocolate is unique because Ulrika and Fredrik travel to various cocoa producers around the world to select the best cocoa for their chocolate. They carefully choose the cocoa beans and producers to ensure exceptional quality, sustainability, transparency, fair pricing, and extraordinary taste. With a small team of skilled chocolatiers, everything is made from scratch in their small factory in Österlen.

Over the years, Svenska Kakao's chocolate has won several fine prizes in international competitions and has been served in star restaurants and tea salons. It is also available in well-known department stores in cities like Isetan in Tokyo, Lafayette in Paris, and KaDeWe in Berlin. Today, the chocolate can be found in 15 countries and in retailers all over Sweden.
